In April 2023, the Institute of Neurogenetics facilitated collaborative events in the Philippines to advance neurogenetics research and care of patients with hereditary movement disorders. The focus was on raising awareness of neurogenetic disorders, such as X-linked dystonia-parkinsonism (XDP), and strengthening 10-year collaborative efforts among researchers in the Philippines, other parts of South-East Asia, and Luebeck. Key events included the 329th Guerrero Memorial Lecture at the University of Santo Tomas, the 4th International Academic Colloquium Expert Lecture at the University of the Philippines, field trips to visit XDP patients, the MDS-AOS Basic Science School, and a Global Parkinson's Genetics Program (GP2) East Asia gathering.
